What we do
Based in the Department of Digital Humanities at King’s College London, our lab develops and applies geographic data science and GeoAI methods to investigate cultural dynamics in domains such as the creative and cultural industries, GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums), human geography, and war studies.
Our core interests include questions like:
- Where is culture created, curated, and consumed, and why?
- What spatial inequalities exist in access to cultural products, venues, and events?
- How can we harmonise and integrate diverse cultural datasets across space and time?
- How do digital platforms mediate cultural participation and representation across locations?
- What can user-generated content from online platforms reveal about human behaviours?
- What visualisations help historians and social scientists understand complex social phenomena?
- How can spatial data inform equitable strategies for cultural heritage preservation and access?
By bridging data science, human geography, and the humanities, our work advances methodological innovation and provides new evidence to inform more equitable, sustainable, and inclusive informational and cultural landscapes.
